On Saturday, I got together with three of my best girlfriends. We decided this year that instead of going out late to celebrate New Year’s, we were going to get together for brunch and celebrate “Noon” Year! I hope it becomes an annual tradition because I had the best time. We met up at Mother’s Bistro and gorged on breakfast delights (I had the salmon hash with a pot of Russian breakfast tea) and caught up on everything going on in one another’s lives. We were so busy catching up and eating that I didn’t really have the chance to take out the camera. Guess that just means we are going to have to recreate it next year.
Cory and I met up afterwards and took a little stroll downtown. We ended up at the Ace Hotel and couldn’t resist its magical window light and photo booth.
I was only slightly obsessed with this abandoned coffee cup:
We also took a few instax images with my instax mini that has sadly been neglected since getting my instax wide.
Happy Wednesday everyone! Hope it’s lovely.

I absolutely love these photos through the window of a coffee shop. If I were you though I would be so terribly self conscious and nervous if Tom was outside shooting me and I was inside trying to look hip. Also, you have a very photogenic “natural” face. When I try not to smile and look natural I always end up having a contorted mouth or I look incredibly pissed. =P
Hahaha! Want to know what’s funny Sara? I was extremely nervous and self conscious and almost didn’t follow through with doing it! I felt like a big dork and like everyone there was watching me/judging me. But I made a promise to myself that in the new year, if I had an idea for a photograph I would follow through with it. I’m actually thinking of doing a series called “Through the Window” where I take portraits through the windows at all the amazing places I love here in Oregon.
Love these, Jade.
I’m with Sara- way to go on following through with those shots, they’re great, I would have been a bit too chicken. I’ve resolved to do the same this year though, so we’ll see how that goes. I need to start bookmarking all the wonderful places you talk about since a good friend of mine is moving out to Portland in a couple months, then she’ll know where the best spots are.
Yay! I’m glad I’m not the only one forcing themselves out of their comfort zone
And that is awesome that your friend is moving to Portland! It really is a lovely place. If your friend has any questions you be sure to send her my way. I’m more than happy to help
Awesome post! Glad you had a great “noon” year
I want to photograph you so badly! You are stunning
Haha, “Noon” Year was the best! Can’t wait for next year!
And, girl, if you’re ever in my neck of the woods (or vise versa) you can bet we will have a photo date. Your work is BEYOND stunning and I have so enjoyed following you this past year. Can’t wait to see where it takes you.
Love the photos Jade & most of all love your discrete star like quality ~ the lens is certainly loving you, much as your love it! Fabulous combo! Have a graceful year dear ~ xo
Wow, thank you so much. The camera and I have had our ups and downs, but I don’t know what we would do without one another
Wishing you a wonderful year too!
The tow shots are wonderful and I LOVE the coffee too!
Thanks so much Julianna!
OH yeah. So, the Ace is fo course, awesome. But my love is for Mother’s, which I long to return to immediately. OH and that COFFEE CUP. God, woman.
Haha, I can’t believe I had never been before and I am happy to report I’m taking Cory there for brunch on Saturday.
RIGHT!? That coffee cup should consider going into modeling full time.
You two are adorable! And you Jade, are gorgeous!
Aww, I’m blushing, thank you!
gorgeous images, loooove the one’s taken through the window.
& I think ‘Noon’ Year celebrations is an awesome idea
