I love holidays. I celebrate as many as I can. I know a lot of people *hate* Valentine’s day, but I’ve always loved it. In my single college days, I used to bring homemade cupcakes into class for everyone. I believe Valentine’s day is an excuse to tell people you love them by doing something special and making a memory. How can a holiday like that be wrong?
I really like what my friend Beckie had to say about it on my post yesterday. She said,”When Valentine’s Day is about generic gifts that are demanded/expected, they really don’t mean anything at all and I can see how that turns people off of the day. But Valentine’s Day can be so much more! Celebrating friends, family, coworkers and other loved ones that day is so much fun.” Exactly.
I tell Cory I love him every day… multiple times a day. Cory tells me he loves me every day… multiple times a day. I feel so blessed for that. We don’t exchange gifts every year but we decided to this year. I surprised Cory with a card (which I knew would make him laugh/cry) and our engagement photos, framed (#44 on my list!). We had yet to order prints of any so I ordered our favorites: two framed black and white images he could put on his nightstand and a framed collage we could hang over our mantel. To say he loved it would be an understatement. Not sure how I’m going to top next year!
He gave me a lovely card with cute felt foxes and a gorgeous locket featuring Klimt’s “The Kiss” with a picture of us kissing on the inside. I also scored some chocolate, which really was a gift for both of us.
We then made gluten free french toast topped with lemon curd I made from scratch. It was my first attempt at making it and while Cory loved it, I still think it needs perfecting. I couldn’t resist placing a blueberry heart on top. While eating breakfast we watched “Lady and the Tramp” which I got on Blue-Ray for my birthday (thank’s Aunt Connie, Uncle Jeff, Maya & Alex!). Perfect romantic movie, right? After Cory left for work I also watched “Bridges of Madison County,” which, I’m ashamed to admit, I had never seen before. I’m going to have to watch it again because I want Cory to watch it. So lovely.
I wish I would have planned ahead better so I could have sent Valentine’s out this year, but being sick with walking pneumonia really put a damper on my plans. Maybe next year. I hope everyone had a lovely holiday.

Ohhh what a lovely day. So many things to love here. I am in love with that locket, that Klimt print is my favorite. I was just talking about how good Bridges of Madison County is, now i need to watch it!! Your engagement photos are lovely, as are you and Cory. Glad you two had a special day!!
I am a major Klimt fan too! Cory surprised me with how thoughtful he was about picking it out. And I think I can safely say that Bridges of Madison County is one of my favorite movies now. Thank you so much! I can’t wait to celebrate again next year.
I am like, head over heels in love with what both you and your friend had to say about Valentine’s Day. I feel the EXACT same way about Thanksgiving. Love these photos, so nice to see your engagement photos all pretty and done up, too.
When I read what Beckie said, I had to write about it because it’s exactly what I wanted to say but didn’t know how to say it. And we are so happy with how the photos turned out! The colors are gorgeous! Can’t thank you enough!!
Great post and it looked like a great V-Day!

Thank you so much Megan! I started a 365 project this year and I think it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. It will help me document and remember my year with Cory so we can always remember our time together.
You two are so cute & sweet.
That almond & sea salt bar is one of my favorites, and the card is so funny.
What great gifts you guys exchanged.
