For this week’s 52, I got all dolled up for date night with Cory: dinner and a Broadway show. I figured a red lip was required.
And now, my incredibly busy week in pictures…
Sunday (Feb. 19): For Christmas Cory got me tickets to go see Broadway’s Beauty and the Beast at the Keller Auditorium! Sunday was finally the day so we got all dolled up, went out to dinner and then to the show. For those of you who don’t know, I have a problem. I love musical theater. My freshman year of high school my dad took me to see the Phantom of the Opera and I’ve been hooked ever since. I’ve seen Phantom of the Opera, Lion King, Avenue Q, Mary Poppins, 42nd Street, Chicago, The Producers, Miss Saigon, Rent, Wicked, and Mamma Mia. I even got to see Spring Awakening on Broadway when I was in New York featuring the original Tony Award winning cast. For those of you who don’t know, that means I saw Lea Michelle perform before she was Rachel Berry and Jonathon Groff before he was Jesse St. James. And for those of you who love musical theater, you know how freakin’ awesome that is!
Monday (Feb. 20): I got to have lunch and catch up with one of my best friends and then Cory and I went out later in the evening to Toro Bravo for their tasting menu, which we were supposed to have for my birthday but I was too sick to attend. It was delicious, but a little heavier fare than we are used to. I want to go back during the summer when the menu will be more about fruit and veggies and less about fritters and polenta. The highlight was probably the almond ice cream with hot espresso poured on top. Yum!
Tuesday (Feb 21): I had a fitting at Xtabay Bridal Salon for a modeling gig I’m doing this coming Sunday. I’ll be modeling this little number. It was so gorgeous I didn’t want to take it off! After the fitting, Cory and I stopped in for breakfast at Broder, which is literally right across the street from the salon. Be on the lookout for a full post about Broder soon!
Wednesday (Feb. 22): A couple awesome cacti that caught my eye on a rainy day stroll.
Thursday (Feb. 23): Couldn’t resist picking up the latest issue of Vogue featuring Adele.
Friday (Feb. 24): A very exciting an unexpected thing happened Friday. I found my wedding dress!! A vintage 1950s ballerina wedding dress. It was the first and only dress I tried on. Cory cried. I knew it was right.
Saturday (Feb. 25): Celebrated my grandma’s 75th birthday. Happy birthday Grandma! You can see her in the background of this photos. She created this flower arrangement for the occasion and gave a little speech about it’s meaning. Each flower represents a member of her family. It was super sweet and she had everyone tearing up!

I don’t think you could have a found a more perfect dress for your wedding Jade. Soooo classy. Your wedding photos are going to be legendary =)
Thank you Jonathan. I never expected to find a dress so quickly and easily. I usually have horrible luck with that sort of thing!
Holy moly. I want to comment on all of these photos, but they pale in comparison to your beauty in that dress. Congrats on finding it! You are breath taking! I hate to complain about our wedding, but I mistakenly let everyone else tell me what I wanted. I didnt find THE dress, I didnt want a church wedding, I was forced to invite people I didnt want there, blah blah blah. The ONLY good memory I have of that day was marrying my love (HAHA I typoed lice instead of love). I am so glad you found the dress of your dreams and hope you have the wedding of your dreams!
Haha! Oh my goodness, thank you so much Dani!
To be completely honest, I started getting caught up in what everyone wanted for the wedding instead of what I wanted. One day, it drove me to tears and Cory reminded me of what the wedding is all about: each other. Now we are having a really small ceremony and wearing what we want and decorating how we want, just like we originally wanted anyway!!
You be sure to have the wedding YOU want when you renew your vows!!
The dress is beautiful!!
Thank you Kim!
Beautiful dress, Jade! I saw on FB your comment about being non-traditional, and Tom and I did the same thing. I asked his opinion on every dress and when he got teary eyed, I knew which one was the right one! I think it’s important that our mates have a huge part in this day as well. I am so happy for you both!
Thank you so much sweet Sara! I always knew that Cory would be the only one to go wedding dress shopping with me. I didn’t want to be bombarded with too many opinions by bringing a ton of friends and family members. I know what I like and what I like doesn’t necessarily jive with all of their opinions. Really, the only opinion (other than my own) that I cared about was Cory’s. The dress is as much for him as it is for me. I’m just happy it was such a good experience and I’m hoping the rest of the wedding planning goes as smoothly!
You are so gorgeoise that it aches me. I want your magical skin to be mine.
Haha! Thank you so much Jasmine. I used to think this pale skin of mine was a curse, but the older I get the more I realize it is a blessing.
Oh your dress is perfect for you!! Congrats on finding it!!
Thank you so much Audrey! I’m so happy the dress and I found one another
