I have some once in a lifetime news to share today. Some of you may have already heard, but I haven’t been able to formally announce it here on the blog because frankly I couldn’t believe it was actually happening. But now that I’ve had a chance to breath and let it soak in, I’m ready to shout from the rooftops that DaVinci Wines is sending me to Vinci, a small town in Tuscany, Italy! I have been selected as the “Visual & Performing Arts” 2012 DaVinci Storyteller.

Now can you see why I couldn’t believe it at first!? Honestly, words can’t express how grateful and thrilled I am to have been given this opportunity.

At the end of July, with my camera(s) in tow, I will be spending a week in Vinci, documenting the entire experience. I can’t wait to walk the streets where Leonardo Da Vinci was born, sip wine from DaVinci vineyards, explore the Tuscan Hills and photograph absolutely everything! Can you say, dream come true?

I won’t be alone in Vinci! Three other storytellers will be there with me: Mark Leslie representing the Language Arts Category, Cathi Iannone representing the Culinary Arts Category and one other individual representing the Fan’s Choice Category. You can vote for who you think should be the fourth storyteller here.

I hope you follow me along on this unbelievable journey. Not only will I be blogging here, I will also be posting updates on Flickr, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram!

I need to take a moment to say thank you. Thank you DaVinci Wines for believing in me and giving me this amazing gift. Thank you to my family who have always supported my artistic ambitions even though they haven’t always quite understood them. Thank you to my friends, readers and fellow artists who continuously inspire me and motivate me to create. And a special thank you to my new husband who bought me my first dslr and has been my number one fan these past 5 years together. This blog wouldn’t exist without you sweetheart.

I can’t wait to meet the other storytellers and dive into Tuscan life! I have a feeling that we are made for each other.
