2012 was an incredible year in so many ways. I made huge strides with my health, photography and in my relationships. It was also a tough year filled with transitions, setbacks and more testing of my faith and patience than I cared for. I feel as though 2012 was gearing me up for the magic and wonder that is going to be 2013. I really can’t wait to see how the coming year unfolds and share it with my husband.
Thank you to everyone who followed along as I photographed each day of my life this past year. It may sound silly, but there were times when I wanted to give up but your kind sentiments kept me going. I hope you continue to follow along in the New Year (and please, share your links with me! I’d love to follow your journey too).
And now, 2012 in review…
January: I decided to start a 365 project AND a 52 weeks project. I also started back up at Pacific University to take the final steps towards earning my Master’s of Arts in Education.
February: I turned 25, found my wedding dress, I modeled in Rocked, a Portland Bridal Event, had some of my work featured on The Kinfolk Journal and was interviewed for The Impossible Project’s “8 Exposures.”
March: We found our wedding venue, I photographed “The Draped” and ”Mars Water,” and I went on a fabulous, blustery photo walk with Cory and Kim
April: I mailed off wedding invites, convinced Cory’s dad to let us clean and give new life to his beautiful bottle collection, I started my obsession with instagram and we got our marriage certificate.
May: I illustrated a piece for the BodyVox Calendar and got to take Cory to one of their stunning performances, I graduated with my Master’s of Arts in Education, spent some time at Xtabay Vintage and oh, yeah, WE GOT MARRIED!
June: We visited Pittock Mansion for the first time (despite both living in Oregon for our entire lives!), discovered my grandparents old polaroid spectra still worked, moved into a new place and found out some once in a lifetime news.
July: I received an ONA Bag from Cory for my upcoming international trip, admired lots of lovely flowers and traveled to Italy!
August: We drank lots of coffee, enjoyed our local farmer’s market, celebrated 5 years together, attended the Beaver BBQ, took a mini road trip to Cannon Beach and sampled ice cream sandwiches at Ruby Jewel Scoops.
September: I debated over lots of frames, took a trip to Grandma’s farm, spent lots of time by the pool, officially became medication free (thanks Dr. Murczek!) and admired paintings at the art museum.
October: We picked pumpkins at the Sauvie Island Pumpkin Patch, photographed another wedding with the talented Kim Miller, carved pumpkins with friends, dressed up as Andy and Edie and devoured Ken’s Artisan Pizza,
November: I took engagement photos of the cutest couple, made friends with a horse on Thanksgiving, celebrated Cory’s 26th birthday and visited the huge Christmas tree in Pioneer Courthouse Square.
December: I walked the runway in the Xtabay Holiday Fashion Show, baked tons of cookies, attended the Portland Bazaar, saw Santaland Diaries at Portland Center Stage, modeled for VK Designs, found out I was selected to be a part of the Impossible Project’s “Make Your Mark” exhibition (which will travel to New York and Vienna!), admired the festive holiday decorations at Pittock Mansion, fixed our polaroid land camera, celebrated Christmas with family and friends and rang in the New Year with my sweetheart.
And, just in case you were curious, here is what 2011 looked like.

What a huge year. Congratulations on your marriage and your personal achievements. This has been one of my favourite bloggy finds of 2012!
I’d love to know sometime about your favourite skincare and makeup. I am very fair (although my hair is naturally almost black) and I find makeup bewildering.
Oh, thank you so much Amber! I’ve actually been meaning to do a post about my skincare and makeup routines! Definitely going to happen in 2013!
What an incredible year for you, Jade. Your creativity and talent always amazes me.
Aww, thank you oh so much Sarai! Your creativity, confidence and passion for your craft definitely inspired me to follow my passions this past year! Can’t wait to see what 2013 has in store for all of us!
Happy New Year Jade!
sounds like last year was amazing, may 2013 be even better
Happy New Year Vickie! Wishing you the very same!
What a glorious year you have had! You are absolutely stunning and of course, I wish you the very best in your endeavors in 2013! It is such a thrill to see Portland through your lens (a city that is near and dear to my heart). I am participating in my own 365 project and would be honored if you took a peek at my new photo blog! Thank you! xoxo
