Goodbye 2012, Hello 2013!

Posted on 1 Jan ’13

2012 was an incredible year in so many ways. I made huge strides with my health, photography and in my relationships. It was also a tough year filled with transitions, setbacks and more testing of my faith and patience than I cared for. I feel as though 2012 was gearing me up for the magic and wonder that is going to be 2013. I really can’t wait to see how the coming year unfolds and share it with my husband. Thank you to everyone who followed along as I photographed each day of my life this past year. It may sound silly, but there were times when I wanted to give up but your kind sentiments kept me going. I hope you continue to…

Happy Christmas

Posted on 24 Dec ’12

In lieu of the regular 365 post today, I just wanted to take a moment and wish you all a safe and enchanting holiday. And since I couldn’t afford to send everyone out there a card, I figured I would share it here. I had so much fun putting it together. And now, to get you in the holiday spirit, check out these photographs I took a few days ago at Pittock Mansion, which is all decked out for Christmas! Each room was decorated in regards to a traditional Christmas song. I kept asking the employees if I could live at the mansion but they just laughed at me as if I wasn’t being serious…

Xtabay Holiday Fashion Show

Posted on 7 Dec ’12

The show was such fun. The crowd was absolutely amazing and the girls looked stunning in their red lips and vintage attire. The show also raised $1200 for the Cascade AIDS Project, which is incredible. A special thank you to Liz Gross, owner of Xtabay, for making this short girl’s dream come true: I never thought I would have the pleasure of walking a runway show and now, I have! Just in case you weren’t able to make it to the show, you can still see us strut our stuff modeling the amazing vintage coats, cocktail dresses and gowns. I wanted to share a few of the wonderful photographs taken by my husband (edited by mio). You can view the entire album on my facebook page. First up, were coats… Next came…

All Hallows’ Eve

Posted on 31 Oct ’12

Happy Halloween everyone! Since Cory works evenings, we celebrated Halloween over the weekend. We spent the morning carving pumpkins. I love how they turned out. This is actually the first time we have gone to a pumpkin patch, picked out pumpkins and carved them together. I’m already looking forward to doing it again next year. We have a tradition of going out to dinner and a movie in our costumes. This year we decided to go as Andy Warhol and Edie Sedgwick. What do you think? I’m pretty sure we are going to dress like this every weekend from now on… Twitter / Facebook / Instagram / Pinterest / Illustration / Etsy

Week 41 {Project 365}

Posted on 17 Oct ’12

The rain has started and it is creating the most beautiful blue, grey light. It’s what inspired this week’s 52. And now, my week in photographs… Sunday (October 7th): Pencil shavings from a recent project. Monday (October 8th): Cupcakes were a necessity on this particular day. Tuesday (October 9th): A new favorite. Wednesday (October 10th): An incredible sunset. I’m going to miss seeing those regularly now that we are in the rainy part of the season. Thursday (October 11th): My Birchbox arrived. Full post coming soon. Friday (October 12th): Gave this recipe a whirl. It was a hit! Thanks Joy! Saturday (October 13th): My dear friend Eva and her fiance were in town and decided to host a little get together with a group of our friends. We ate, drank and carved pumpkins. It…

Valentine’s Day

Posted on 16 Feb ’12

I love holidays. I celebrate as many as I can. I know a lot of people *hate* Valentine’s day, but I’ve always loved it. In my single college days, I used to bring homemade cupcakes into class for everyone. I believe Valentine’s day is an excuse to tell people you love them by doing something special and making a memory. How can a holiday like that be wrong? I really like what my friend Beckie had to say about it on my post yesterday. She said,”When Valentine’s Day is about generic gifts that are demanded/expected, they really don’t mean anything at all and I can see how that turns people off of the day. But Valentine’s Day can be so much more! Celebrating friends, family,…

Goodbye 2011, Hello 2012!

Posted on 30 Dec ’11

I figured I would take one more self portrait before the new year. 2011 has been a year that I will never forget. It wasn’t all peaches and cream, but today I’m going to focus on the positive: Cory and I got engaged. I moved out of my family home that I’ve lived in for the past 21 years and moved in with my fiance. I photographed my first wedding, first senior portraits and first engagement session. I started Monsieur Mustache, which will be featured on Portlandia. Oh, and I also got to be on Portlandia as the “Pale Princess.” I always knew I held that title, but it was nice to finally be recognized for it officially. Be sure to tune in to season…

Bits of Christmas

Posted on 29 Dec ’11

I was very ill right before Christmas. I was literally in bed with a migraine for three days. I had to miss a few Christmas parties but overall we had a great holiday. Lots of family, lots of friends, lots of time together, just Cory and me. We decorated our home and read Christmas books under the tree. I designed and mailed out Christmas cards for the first time ever. We froze our butts off and rode a tractor around an absolutely amazing Christmas tree farm where we sipped on cocoa, snuggled by the fire and chopped down a noble fir (I can’t wait to go back next year). We took an untraditional portrait in front of our Christmas tree. We got to kiss underneath the…

Holiday Cards…

Posted on 22 Dec ’11

Who else out there can’t believe that December is almost over and Christmas is only a few days away? I’m not sure where the time went. This is the first year I’ve sent out holiday cards. I’m not sure when we became one of “those couples” that send out pictures of ourselves, but I don’t care! This year was a special year for us and I wanted to be able to share our happiness and gorgeous engagement photos with our family and friends. We mailed them off on Tuesday, just in time to arrive for Christmas! In case I don’t get a chance to say it in the next few days, Merry Christmas everyone! I hope you have a safe holiday and get to…
