Week 4 (Project 365, 2013)

Posted on 29 Jan ’13

Sunday, January 20th: A bit of coffee at Coava. Speaking of Coava, an exceptionally lovely afternoon at Coava is featured on Endlessly Enraptured today… Monday, January 21st: Enjoyed some drinks with my sweetheart at McMenamins’ Roadhouse. Tuesday, January 22nd: My handsome husband. Why does facial hair have to look so good but be so prickly? Wednesday, January 23rd: New journals arrived! One for me, one for Cory. I think we are going to swap at the end of each month and read what the other wrote. Is it weird how excited I am about it? Thursday, January 24th: When you’re both ill, sometimes all you can do is sit back and order pizza. Friday, January 25th: Was pleasantly surprised by how delicious this soup turned out to be.…

Week 43 {Project 365}

Posted on 30 Oct ’12

Enjoying the park blocks in this week’s 52. I think that this is the last week I’ll be able to get away with wearing a sweater instead of a heavy coat. It’s getting soooo cold! And now, my week in photographs… Sunday (October 21st): A clear evening downtown. Monday (October 22nd): Once again, rain ruined our plans, so we decided to drown our sorrows in copious amounts of Indian food. Tuesday (October 23rd): How is it that raindrops make things even more beautiful? Wednesday (October 24th): A trip to the market wouldn’t be complete without an instagram or two. Follow me (@jade_melissa) and Cory (@cory_burnsed). Thursday (October 25th): I made gluten free pumpkin cinnamon rolls. Sometimes baking is the only thing that can make me happy…

Beaver BBQ

Posted on 28 Aug ’12

No, no, no. When I say beaver bbq I’m not saying I went to a bbq where they served beaver. The Beaver BBQ is an annual BBQ hosted by the Johnson family at their farm as a tribute to their love of the Oregon State Beavers. Whitney and Dave invited Cory and I. It was such a pleasure to finally meet these two face to face after admiring/internet stalking them for the past few years. They are such a sweet couple and I’m so happy for them: they are recently engaged, don’t you know!? I also got to meet so many lovely, talented photographers and bloggers: Nicolle (and her lovely son), Debbie and Vanessa to name a few. I didn’t feel like being too…

A Trip to the Orenco Station Farmer’s Market

Posted on 7 Aug ’12

Just down the road from where we live now, there is an amazing farmer’s market that takes place every Sunday starting in May all the way through the month of October. We went this past Sunday and enjoyed fresh produce, delicious mini doughnuts, snazzy music, stunning dahlias (the big, beautiful bouquet I took home was just $7!!), a sky performance courtesy of the Blue Angels and lots of happy pups! I can’t wait for next Sunday. Twitter / Facebook / Instagram / Pinterest / Illustration / Etsy

A Trip to Sammy’s Flowers

Posted on 1 Aug ’12

Have you ever been to Sammy’s Flowers? I picked out the flowers for my wedding bouquet there and whenever I’m wandering around 23rd, I always make sure to walk over to Sammy’s and take a look at what they have in. Nothing beats the beauty of nature. Cory and I couldn’t resist taking a sedum home for our dining room table. Twitter / Facebook / Instagram / Pinterest / Illustration / Etsy

Week 27 {Project 365}

Posted on 10 Jul ’12

Dramatic light is featured in this week’s 52. It has been exceptionally sunny lately and since I live in Oregon, I don’t get a chance to shoot in this kind of light all that often. When I look at this polaroid, I feel like it looks like it was shot in a studio, but it was actually shot in a forest. The light on my face is from the sun falling through the trees. I have been without my dslr this week. It was sent off for cleaning and maintenance so it can be in top working condition for my trip. I ended up taking my instant film cameras with me everywhere over the last 7 days. And now, my week in {instant film} photographs……

Always Forget

Posted on 7 Apr ’12

I always forget how much I love this time of year. I’ll be spending the weekend finishing up my research paper (joy!) and eating lots of delicious food/catching up with family on Easter Sunday. What will you be up to? Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend and a happy Easter! Twitter / Facebook / Pinterest / Illustration / Etsy

Week 2 {Project 365}

Posted on 16 Jan ’12

January 8, 2012 After such a successful “Noon” Year, I decided I absolutely had to take Cory to Mother’s Bistro. This shot features the homemade sorbet that the chef gave to Cory and me. Read more about our lovely brunch here. January 9, 2012 It was my first day back at school after a year long hiatus. It’s going to be a lot of work, but it will be wonderful to have my master’s that I have already put so much heart and soul into earning. It was especially tough going to school on this particular day because Cory and I just got a new blanket and duvet cover for our bed. I didn’t want to leave it! January 10, 2012 After the awful…

30 Days of Gratitude {Day 21}

Posted on 21 Nov ’11

Straight away let me warn you that this post is picture heavy, but Cory and I had a lot of fun at our impromptu photo shoot this weekend. I also got an extremely early Christmas gift: VSCO Film (thanks babe!). They are lovely and I have been experimenting with them like a mad woman all weekend. There is a lot to be grateful for today. I’m grateful to have crossed a few things off “The List.” I’m grateful to be a redhead once again. Don’t get me wrong, I really loved my stint as a blonde but I’m seeing a new naturopath and he prefers me not to bleach my hair anymore and use henna instead. I’m really committed to my health and the plan he has developed…

30 Days of Gratitude {Day 17}

Posted on 18 Nov ’11

I’m grateful for the rain. I’ve lived in Oregon my entire life, which is obviously part of the reason I find rain so calming and comforting. A lot of people who live here complain endlessly about it, but I absolutely love it. I love the way it sounds as it hits the roof and windows. I love the way it makes everything smell so crisp and clean. I love the way it makes an old view look brand new.
