Week 4 (Project 365, 2013)

Posted on 29 Jan ’13

Sunday, January 20th: A bit of coffee at Coava. Speaking of Coava, an exceptionally lovely afternoon at Coava is featured on Endlessly Enraptured today… Monday, January 21st: Enjoyed some drinks with my sweetheart at McMenamins’ Roadhouse. Tuesday, January 22nd: My handsome husband. Why does facial hair have to look so good but be so prickly? Wednesday, January 23rd: New journals arrived! One for me, one for Cory. I think we are going to swap at the end of each month and read what the other wrote. Is it weird how excited I am about it? Thursday, January 24th: When you’re both ill, sometimes all you can do is sit back and order pizza. Friday, January 25th: Was pleasantly surprised by how delicious this soup turned out to be.…

Week 46 (Project 365)

Posted on 22 Nov ’12

Whoa. I’m not sure how it happened, but it’s already Thursday and I haven’t posted my weekly 365! I guess I blame it on the craziness that is the holiday season. Speaking of holidays, Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Cory and I will be spending it at my in laws today. For this week’s 52, I’m hanging out at one of my favorite neighborhood coffee shops. And now, my week in photographs… Sunday (November 11th): One of the many awesome cars that hangout in our parking lot. Monday (November 12th): An early birthday gift I gave Cory. We have been enjoying warm tea and snuggles in bed on these cold, rainy nights. Tuesday (November 13th): Bikes. Wednesday (November 14th): Coffee and magazines at the library. Thursday (November…

Week 43 {Project 365}

Posted on 30 Oct ’12

Enjoying the park blocks in this week’s 52. I think that this is the last week I’ll be able to get away with wearing a sweater instead of a heavy coat. It’s getting soooo cold! And now, my week in photographs… Sunday (October 21st): A clear evening downtown. Monday (October 22nd): Once again, rain ruined our plans, so we decided to drown our sorrows in copious amounts of Indian food. Tuesday (October 23rd): How is it that raindrops make things even more beautiful? Wednesday (October 24th): A trip to the market wouldn’t be complete without an instagram or two. Follow me (@jade_melissa) and Cory (@cory_burnsed). Thursday (October 25th): I made gluten free pumpkin cinnamon rolls. Sometimes baking is the only thing that can make me happy…

A Trip to Ken’s Artisan Pizza

Posted on 24 Oct ’12

Cory and I had such a lovely time at Ken’s, I couldn’t help but share a few photographs of our evening there last Saturday. It was incredibly busy so I didn’t get the chance to get up and take any shots of the environment. I guess that just means that the mister and I need to make a trip back very, very soon.  Twitter / Facebook / Instagram / Pinterest / Illustration / Etsy

A Trip to Stumptown

Posted on 18 Oct ’12

It’s that time of year. The time of year when the sky turns grey and the rain is nearly constant. The rain and cold keeps me inside and thus unable to ignore the chores that during the summer I could run away from with the excuse that sunshine is fleeting and I had to soak it up while it’s around. Yesterday was particularly stormy so I decided to take a look through my archives with the hope of clearing things out a bit. I ended up rediscovering these photographs I took a few months back at Stumptown. Cory and I go to the Ace every other month or so and take a filmstrip in their photo booth. Usually we walk through the front doors…

A Trip to Cannon Beach

Posted on 8 Sep ’12

I’m ashamed to say that Cory and I only live an hour away from the beach but hadn’t visited since we first started dating over 5 years ago. We knew we had to remedy this so a couple of weekends ago we drove up to Cannon Beach and spent the afternoon. First stop was Mo’s for the clam chowder, bouillabaisse and gorgeous view of the beach. After savoring every last bite, we headed to the beach. The weather was ridiculously perfect. We took off our shoes so we could feel the warm sand and freezing cold water on our toes. We held hands, took tons of photographs, chased seagulls and walked a few miles down the beach to Haystack Rock. Oh, and there was lots…

A Trip to Insomnia Coffee Co.

Posted on 5 Sep ’12

I grew up right outside of Portland. This meant I lived in a place where not much was going on. The coolest thing to do with friends was go hangout at the local 24 hour Starbucks. Yeah. I know. So when an indie coffee company that showcased local artists and musicians came to town, we were all thrilled. Insomnia Coffee Co. lives by these words: Art for the sake of art. Coffee for the sake of coffee. Not only am I happy to say I’ve been able to showcase my illustration work  there but I’m also happy to report that Insomnia has flourished into 3 separate locations. I can’t wait for September 22nd (the first day of Fall) to roll around because that’s when Insomnia starts selling…

little t american baker

Posted on 22 Mar ’12

On a rainy day after visiting one of my favorite vintage shops, Cory and I stopped inside  little t american baker for a cup of coffee. Little t is owned by Tim Healea who was the longtime head baker at Pearl Bakery and a consultant for Kenny & Zuke’s Delicatessen. He was also on the US team that competed at the Coupe du Monde de la Boulangerie in Paris, and earned the silver medal in the competition for best bakers in the world. The name ‘little t’ comes from the nickname Tim earned while serving on that team. The bakeshop and cafe have some seriously amazing windows that let in plenty of lovely light and their breads and sweets are on display like beautiful works of…

Week 11 {Project 365}

Posted on 20 Mar ’12

Sharing one of my favorite things to do on this week’s 52: Sitting quietly in a coffee shop, people watching and gazing out at the weather. We don’t have enough still moments in life, you know? And now, my week in photographs: Sunday (March 11th): A little lipstick. Monday (March 12th): I’m trying to battle these gloomy, rainy days with some pops of color. Come on Spring!! Lipstick: Urban Decay Super-Saturated High Gloss Lip Color in Punch Drunk. Nail polish: Essie in Navigate Her. Tuesday (March 13th): Was woken up to the sound of laughter and chainsaws at 8am. Workers were cutting down one of our gorgeous trees. I couldn’t believe it (I’m still angry about it). A perfectly healthy, beautiful tree chopped down for no apparent…

Cafe Nell

Posted on 16 Mar ’12

Popped into Cafe Nell for the first time last week to meet with a fellow photographer for an upcoming shoot. While there wasn’t a lot of gluten free options, there was plenty of beauty to feast your eyes on. Just look at that gorgeous red fireplace! Twitter / Facebook / Pinterest / Illustration
