Xtabay Holiday Fashion Show

The show was such fun. The crowd was absolutely amazing and the girls looked stunning in their red lips and vintage attire. The show also raised $1200 for the Cascade AIDS Project, which is incredible. A special thank you to Liz Gross, owner of Xtabay, for making this short girl’s dream come true: I never thought I would have the pleasure of walking a runway show and now, I have! Just in case you weren’t able to make it to the show, you can still see us strut our stuff modeling the amazing vintage coats, cocktail dresses and gowns. Obligatory ‘reflection in ornament’ shot for this week’s 52. Do you have your holiday decorations up yet? And now, my week in photographs… Sunday (November 25th): The deer has his red nose. Now the holidays are really upon us. Monday (November 26th): A visit to Cacao. More soon. Tuesday (November 27th): Admiring the rain. Week 39 {Project 365}

For this week’s 52, I’m wearing my new Lizzy Dress I won from a giveaway on Kayture (isn’t she fabulous?). I adore this dress: the print, color, fit, everything! Can’t wait to style it with a black blazer and knee-high boots for Fall. And now, my week photographs… Sunday (September 23rd): I was feeling much, MUCH better compared to Saturday so Cory and I decided to go to the local farmer’s market (where we sampled delicious, fresh produce and bought a beautiful bouquet for my mom) and spent some time at Powell’s. Monday (September 24th): I had a very successful doctor’s appointment and we celebrated by picking up some heirloom tomatoes for caprese salad. I’ve tried to convince Cory of the deliciousness of heirloom tomatoes for the last few years.…

Warby Parker

My husband and I have been fans of Warby Parker for quite a few years now. It all started with a group of friends who were sick of unstylish frames that were outrageously overpriced. Not only are they making frames that are affordable and beautiful but Warby Parker is even a part of a Buy a Pair, Give a Pair program, meaning for each pair of glasses that they sell they give a pair to someone in need. If that’s not reason enough to buy from them, then I don’t know what is! Oh! And how about their stellar home try on program? A Trip to Xtabay

I want to tell you about a magical place that exists in Portland, Oregon on Clinton Street. Xtabay Vintage Clothing Boutique is pure, vintage heaven. The fabulous owner, Liz Gross, opened the shop in 2001 and it has been the place to go for vintage dresses, shoes, hats and handbags ever since. They recently opened a bridal salon upstairs which is where I found my wedding dress! But, more on the bridal salon later, for now lets focus on the vintage boutique. Bride for a Day

On Sunday, I got to be a bride. No, I didn’t get married, but I got to be a model for Rocked, a Portland Bridal Event hosted by Portland Bride & Groom and The Nines. I wore a gorgeous 1950′s silk embroidered taffeta wedding gown with cinched waist, cascading train and boat neckline from Xtabay Bridal Salon, the same salon where I found my dress. I felt incredibly regal. The event took place on the 6th floor of the hotel. It was unbelievably gorgeous with views of the Courthouse and Pioneer Courthouse Square. Special thanks to Cory for being photographer/dress carrier for the day! I wouldn’t have made it through the day without you!
