Week 52 (Project 365)

Posted on 31 Dec ’12

I’m celebrating the ending of my 52 weeks portrait project in this week’s 52! I’m looking forward to sharing a year in review tomorrow but for now, here is the final week of my 2012 in photographs… Sunday (December 23rd): Getting some more cookie gift boxes put together to hand out for Christmas. Monday (December 24th): We spent Christmas Eve with my Dad’s side of the family (like we do nearly every year). We opened gifts and ate chinese food. Can’t wait for next year. Tuesday (December 25th): Merry Christmas! Ever since I can remember, I’ve spent Christmas morning at my Aunt Brenda’s house for Christmas Brunch. Mimosas, sausages, quiche, presents, family… what could be better? Cory and I also visited his family up at…

Week 43 {Project 365}

Posted on 30 Oct ’12

Enjoying the park blocks in this week’s 52. I think that this is the last week I’ll be able to get away with wearing a sweater instead of a heavy coat. It’s getting soooo cold! And now, my week in photographs… Sunday (October 21st): A clear evening downtown. Monday (October 22nd): Once again, rain ruined our plans, so we decided to drown our sorrows in copious amounts of Indian food. Tuesday (October 23rd): How is it that raindrops make things even more beautiful? Wednesday (October 24th): A trip to the market wouldn’t be complete without an instagram or two. Follow me (@jade_melissa) and Cory (@cory_burnsed). Thursday (October 25th): I made gluten free pumpkin cinnamon rolls. Sometimes baking is the only thing that can make me happy…

Week 39 {Project 365}

Posted on 2 Oct ’12

For this week’s 52, I’m wearing my new Lizzy Dress I won from a giveaway on Kayture (isn’t she fabulous?). I adore this dress: the print, color, fit, everything! Can’t wait to style it with a black blazer and knee-high boots for Fall. And now, my week photographs… Sunday (September 23rd): I was feeling much, MUCH better compared to Saturday so Cory and I decided to go to the local farmer’s market (where we sampled delicious, fresh produce and bought a beautiful bouquet for my mom) and spent some time at Powell’s. Monday (September 24th): I had a very successful doctor’s appointment and we celebrated by picking up some heirloom tomatoes for caprese salad. I’ve tried to convince Cory of the deliciousness of heirloom tomatoes for the last few years.…

A Trip to Grandma’s Farm

Posted on 11 Sep ’12

On labor day, we visited Cory’s family. His grandma lives on an 88 acre farm out in the middle of nowhere. You would never know it was there unless someone purposely took you there. You travel along winding, gravel and dirt roads where you eventually come to a clearing with a farm. It was such a lovely day out so we took advantage of it and went on a photowalk before dinner. We had a little friend by the name of Boots follow us along. It made me long for a kitten that much more! Cory’s brother Casy dug us up some potatoes and garlic from the garden. They wanted to send us home with some cabbage too, but as you will see in the photos…

Beaver BBQ

Posted on 28 Aug ’12

No, no, no. When I say beaver bbq I’m not saying I went to a bbq where they served beaver. The Beaver BBQ is an annual BBQ hosted by the Johnson family at their farm as a tribute to their love of the Oregon State Beavers. Whitney and Dave invited Cory and I. It was such a pleasure to finally meet these two face to face after admiring/internet stalking them for the past few years. They are such a sweet couple and I’m so happy for them: they are recently engaged, don’t you know!? I also got to meet so many lovely, talented photographers and bloggers: Nicolle (and her lovely son), Debbie and Vanessa to name a few. I didn’t feel like being too…

I’m at Stumptown Coffee Roasters for this week’s 52. I get my haircut at Prima Salon (by the incredible Candice White) which is only a few blocks away from the Ace Hotel. After my haircut, Its become a bit of a tradition for Cory and I to go to the Ace and take photos in the photo booth and grab a cup of coffee at Stumptown in the lobby. And now, my week in photographs… Sunday (August 5th): Cory and I went to the Orenco Station Farmer’s Market. See the full blog post here. Monday (August 6th): Displaying a few of our gorgeous flowers from the Farmer’s Market on our dining room table. Tuesday (August 7th): My handsome husband. A Trip to the Orenco Station Farmer’s Market

Posted on 7 Aug ’12

Just down the road from where we live now, there is an amazing farmer’s market that takes place every Sunday starting in May all the way through the month of October. We went this past Sunday and enjoyed fresh produce, delicious mini doughnuts, snazzy music, stunning dahlias (the big, beautiful bouquet I took home was just $7!!), a sky performance courtesy of the Blue Angels and lots of happy pups! I can’t wait for next Sunday. Twitter / Facebook / Instagram / Pinterest / Illustration / Etsy

Week 31 {Project 365}

Posted on 6 Aug ’12

In this week’s 52, I’m wearing one of the gorgeous Dino e Lucia dresses I won in Honey Kennedy’s giveaway! It is slightly too big on me, but with a bit of tailoring, I know it will be absolutely perfect! The color and detailing is so glamorous. I can’t wait to wear it for the holidays. And now my week in photographs… Sunday (July 29th): Pancakes for breakfast! (gluten free, of course) Monday (July 30th): A few scattered flowers on a short but sweet walk. Tuesday (July 31st): Prepping tomatoes for chicken bruschetta. Wednesday (August 1st): Rolling dough for homemade gluten free tortillas. Thursday (August 2nd): Obviously my trip to Italy has made an impact. Friday (August 3rd): My husband nailing a jump shot while sporting the…

A Trip to Sammy’s Flowers

Posted on 1 Aug ’12

Have you ever been to Sammy’s Flowers? I picked out the flowers for my wedding bouquet there and whenever I’m wandering around 23rd, I always make sure to walk over to Sammy’s and take a look at what they have in. Nothing beats the beauty of nature. Cory and I couldn’t resist taking a sedum home for our dining room table. Twitter / Facebook / Instagram / Pinterest / Illustration / Etsy

Week 29 {Project 365}

Posted on 30 Jul ’12

Hello everyone! Long time no blog. The past few weeks have been such a whirlwind. I’ve made it back from Italy safe, sound and full of unbelievably delicious food and wine. I have so much to share from the trip, but first, I need to share week 29 of my project 365 and 52 weeks project. And now, my week in photographs… Sunday (July 15th): I got to have lunch and swap books (a few trash novels for my long flight) with one of my best friends. It was the first time I’ve been able to have guests over at the new place and it got me excited for many more get-togethers. Monday (July 16th): Beautiful pink roses on an evening stroll. Tuesday (July 17th): Whirled…

A Trip To Portland’s Pittock Mansion {Part III}

Posted on 3 Jul ’12

We toured the first floor, the second floor and the basement of the mansion, now lets take a look at the outside of the mansion and the wonderful grounds that surround it. I was completely taken aback by all the lovely flowers. We even found a bird’s nest in a bush by the gardener’s cottage (which I would totally live in by the way). Oh, and did I mention the striking views of the city? Magical. Just magical. I can’t wait to pack a picnic and visit again. Twitter / Facebook / Instagram / Pinterest / Illustration / Etsy
