Dramatic light is featured in this week’s 52. It has been exceptionally sunny lately and since I live in Oregon, I don’t get a chance to shoot in this kind of light all that often. When I look at this polaroid, I feel like it looks like it was shot in a studio, but it was actually shot in a forest. The light on my face is from the sun falling through the trees. I have been without my dslr this week. It was sent off for cleaning and maintenance so it can be in top working condition for my trip. I ended up taking my instant film cameras with me everywhere over the last 7 days. And now, my week in {instant film} photographs……

We toured the first floor, the second floor and the basement of the mansion, now lets take a look at the outside of the mansion and the wonderful grounds that surround it. I was completely taken aback by all the lovely flowers. We even found a bird’s nest in a bush by the gardener’s cottage (which I would totally live in by the way). A have a series of extra special Saturdays coming up. It actually all started this past Saturday. I got to go see a special show with my sweetheart. Next Saturday I get to dress in cap, gown and academic hood and receive my Master’s of Art in Education. And then the Saturday after that I get to marry the love of my life. It’s all pretty surreal. Between finishing up school, preparing to move and planning a wedding, I haven’t had as much time as I would like to go out and take photographs. For this week’s 52, I got all dolled up for date night with Cory: dinner and a Broadway show. I figured a red lip was required. For this week’s 52, I’m sharing my darker side. I usually go lighter on the eyes and sport a bold red lip instead, but after being sick and not wearing makeup for a week, I wanted to experiment and have some fun. Sharing my new purple shirt from Anthropologie for this week’s 52. I love the peasant sleeves, empire waist and lavender color. It’s very comfortable and very feminine. I started the week with a horrible cold. I had a sore throat and migraine and felt exhausted and achey all over. Felt a bit better on Friday and ventured out for some special birthday activities Cory had planned, but we ended up having to reschedule a majority of the activities because I took a turn for the worse. Turns out I have walking pneumonia, oh joy! Not really what I wanted for my 25th birthday, but sometimes that’s how the cards are dealt. Special thanks to Cory for taking such great care of me! A nod to my love of reading for this week’s 52. My week mostly consisted of finishing up stressful school projects, cursing the rain and running around trying to get things done. I’m pretty sure I overworked myself because I woke up this morning with a horrible headache and sore throat. On Saturday, I got together with three of my best girlfriends. We decided this year that instead of going out late to celebrate New Year’s, we were going to get together for brunch and celebrate “Noon” Year! I hope it becomes an annual tradition because I had the best time. We met up at Mother’s Bistro and gorged on breakfast delights (I had the salmon hash with a pot of Russian breakfast tea) and caught up on everything going on in one another’s lives. It’s November 1st which means that it’s time for 30 Days of Gratitude. I had been toying with the idea of doing a photo project this month so when Kristin and Xanthe both reminded me with their lovely photographs today about the project, I knew it was exactly what I had been looking to do. I’m grateful for the great big beautiful tree that grows right next to our patio. This time of year, its leaves turn the brightest of yellows and every time I walk past our sliding glass door, I can’t help but smile.
